Due to be published on Kindle in April – Stella and the Queen from the Land of Snow. The Queen is desperately unhappy in her new land, as there is no snow. She cannot stop crying and is pining away. There are fears she will die! Stella and the storks set about finding snow to bring back to the palace. The problem is that, never having seen snow, they don’t know what it is…

About Stella the Stork

Stella the Stork was hatched in a nest in a large cork oak tree close to the River Guardiana which runs between Portugal and Spain. She had many brothers and sisters and grew up in a very happy family. Her father was an officer in the Stork Express Delivery service. The service prided itself on delivering anything - anywhere! Stella was determined to following in his footsteps and would help him with his deliveries after school and at weekends. She joined the service as a junior making the acorn tea and doing other menial tasks. Stella was determined to do well and her ambition was to join the elite department of storks who ran the Nursery division. It soon became clear that Stella was very talented and had a remarkable sense of direction. She passed all the exams with flying colours. She would never forget the look of pride in her father’s eyes as she took the salute and was handed her wings by the Stork-in-Chief. Stella achieved her ambition and joined the Nursery division. She delivered more babies than any stork ever! Stella broke all speed records and to this day they have never been broken. She was appointed head of the Delivery department and was a role model for all. She instilled into her recruits good manners and integrity. However, her success came at a price, although she had several proposals of marriage Stella remained single putting her job first. She was promoted to deputy Stork-in-Chief but as she was more of a ‘hands on’ stork she did not really enjoy this role. Her retirement was accelerated by arthritis in her legs. She was given a ‘grace and favour’ nest in the belfry. How she missed the hustle and bustle of the service. She spent her time knitting red stockings and dreaming of days past. “Perhaps, ” she thought, “Perhaps one day... ”
